Cycling in City: Not a healthy option

Cycling may be one of the best exercise to keep yourself fit, but a recent study shows that people cycling in cities are exposed to toxic nanoparticles which they inhale with every breathe. On an average a cyclist inhales five times more nanoparticles than drivers and pedestrians.

The inhaled toxic particles are linked to heart diseases and respiratory problems in people residing in big cities. The risk is higher for cyclist because they tend to exert themselves while cycling and have a breathe faster than other road users. The study also showed that cyclist can inhale tons of pollutants in one trip which exposes them to various diseases.
